What is Vimshottari Dasha?
Also known as: Dasha period
Vimshottari Dasha is the most widely used Vedic system of planetary time-periods. It divides life into major periods (Mahadasha) ruled by each of nine planets, based on the birth nakshatra.
The full 120-year cycle assigns fixed years to each planet (e.g. Venus 20, Sun 6). Each Mahadasha subdivides into Antardasha and finer levels, showing which planet governs a phase of life.
