What does right eye blinking mean in astrology?
Also known as: right eye twitching, Akshi Spandana
In the Indian omen tradition (Shakuna and Samudrika Shastra), a twitching right eye is read as auspicious for men — a sign of success, gains or good news — while for women the same right-eye twitch is traditionally considered inauspicious.
For men, texts on Nimitta (omens) associate right-eye spandana with victory in undertakings, meeting someone dear, financial gain or recognition. The reading is sometimes refined by the part of the eye: the upper eyelid is linked to gains, the lower lid to expenses or tears, and the pupil region to fortune.
For women the polarity reverses — the left eye is the auspicious one, and a fluttering right eye is taken as a caution to postpone new ventures. This male/female reversal is the single most cited rule of the eye-twitching omen and the reason the same sign is read differently for each.
These are folk-omen readings, not calculations from a birth chart — no planetary position is involved. Medically, eyelid twitching (myokymia) is a harmless muscle spasm usually triggered by fatigue, stress, caffeine or eye strain, and settles on its own; a twitch that persists for weeks is a reason to see a doctor, not an astrologer.
