What is a Kundali?
Also known as: Janma Kundali, birth chart
A Kundali, or Janma Kundali, is a Vedic birth chart that maps the positions of the planets, the Moon's nakshatra and the rising sign (Lagna) at your exact moment and place of birth.
The Kundali is the foundation of every Vedic astrology reading. From it an astrologer reads planetary placements across twelve houses, the Dasha timeline, divisional charts and yogas.
It is drawn in three visual styles — North Indian (diamond, fixed houses), South Indian (square, fixed signs) and East Indian or Bengali (Surya Chakra, fixed signs running anti-clockwise from Aries) — from the same underlying data.
