The 8th house (Randhra Bhava) governs longevity, sudden events, transformation, inheritance, joint assets, research and the occult.
It is the deepest of the Dusthana houses — the house of what is hidden: other people's money, insurance and legacies, crises and regeneration, and esoteric knowledge. Saturn, karaka of longevity, is its natural significator.
A strong 8th can give penetrating research ability and windfalls through inheritance; an afflicted one is read for sudden upheavals. It is also central to Sade Sati-style analyses of difficult periods, always judged with the whole chart.
